Whew!! That was an adventure! Now it's time to check out the drink of the day thread. I found the SJT fun... That probably means I did it wrong. LOL! Tell me about it. I had a ridiculous amount of time left over.

If you are taking part 2, the writing sample read Lucy's great suggestion--save yourself eyestrain, probably write better too, as you can see what you're writing and what you've written.
: Brilliant answer from Lucy! Thanks!
(if there's a feature that lets the applicant have a larger typeface, please let the thread know).

Press "control" and "+" at the same time to make the font bigger. "Control" and "-" makes it smaller. It worked on the small font there and it works here. In fact, it works on most windows based text. Try it.

Ditto. I had, like, an obscene amount of time left as well. But got timed the Frak out on the writing. And the EA was a bit of a PITA. But probably not as bad of a PITA as the next phase...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had time left! I was worried I'd be rushed.

OMG - done! Finally...I do not suggest spreading it out over the week. I had no choice due to my work schedule and family commitments but everything became a calculated risk - should I really eat that left over fish, maybe I shouldn't work out because I could get injured, etc. Spreading the process out over a week I think added more stress. Oh well, I'm done - yay!

On time--for what it's worth on the SJT I had time left. I didn't note how much. On the writing sample I had 20 seconds left by the time I got done proofreading, rewriting poorly written or obscure sentences.
The Experience assessment will be inversely proportional to the time you took on your resume and significant cases. If you spent a fair amount of time on those, it won't take a long time--an hour and a half allowing for proofreading (no time limit, it even says you can cut and paste, which I didn't do but I did print out my answer as I proofread more accurately from hard copy). Can be done in less time. If you didn't spend much time on your resume and significant cases, then you may have to spend more time digging up information they ask for.
Can't wait for that cold frosty (two actually--one pressed to each side of my head before ingesting).
Good luck to all!

Finished third round (Experience Assesment). 2 hours 10 minutes for me as I had a couple of proofreads. As I hit the final "continue" bar to finalize got an error code. However they must have it as I then got the "you have completed" message. Prior to the error code I had hit the save button, so hopefully that worked with my last changes.
Now for beer. Then up early to Court.
Good luck all, whatever stage (and state) you are at.

Knocked it out yesterday in one sitting. Was left with tons of time after SJT. The opposite for writing sample. The experience assessment was a pain mainly because I just wanted to be done with the damned thing.
Shout out to all who gave good advice. My advice: stay calm. Unless you've never actually practiced law - and if you've never practiced you've already been weeded out, hopefully - the test is not the hardest thing you've ever done. Now having said that, I probably failed spectacularly and won't even sniff the next round. If so, c'est la vie. It's been a fun experience. A little shot of juice to counter the mundane.
Good luck to all 2nd rounders. May our scores be so high they take a thousand of us.

Hello, I have been testing the ALJ sample test and I’ll hit “record answer” and a pop up will come up saying “thank you”, (ok, good so far... ), the answer to the first questions stays “dotted” but when I click a response to the second question, the answer “dots” on the first one disappear. I assume this is normal (I assume the “thank you” means that question’s responses are submitted), but wasn’t sure, so I wanted to confirm.
It seemed glitchy for such an important service.
Thank you in advance.

neely, I think it's more of a way to test your computer's compatibility with the testing; if the devices were incompatible, you'd likely receive some sort of clear error message that your computer doesn't jive with the test program(s).

Thank you. Yeah, it loaded and everything and definitely isn't a big glitch, but it seemed like a strange format thing and a small glitch could ruin me just as easily. I see no reason why the prior answers would disappear when you fill out subsequent ones. But if that's how it works, I am fine, I wanted to make 100% sure.

neely-- it just wants to be sure you can get the animated simulations. If you got those that's what the system is testing for. If you didn't get them, or when you got it it didn't work, that's what to look for. It's not about the submit feature, I think, just the animations.
As long as you're experienced enough to be in round 2, you'll be fine for questions of the SJT.
Good luck!

I did the first two tests and have all but completed the third. But since I have time to finalize the EA answers, I think I will take it. Hedging on whether my experience qualifies into a higher category, and decided to sleep on it. I went through this in 2013 and so far I feel a lot better than I did then. Of course, back then I knew I had failed seconds after I submitted my answers, so not much of an accomplishment I guess!

I finished my second phase today. I am less confident than I was the first time I took it. It is out of my hands now, however, and I am glad it is behind me.

I had a ridiculous amount of time left over. Yup - me as well. But I made up for it by using all my time on the writing sample. So many of those questions on the SJT - afterall were - as the title of the test states - judgment...After giving myself a headache with the example trying to decide what was correct - I decided to just roll with it for the actual test. Only time will tell how we all did. What is done is done.

Okay - a quick perusal of this thread and others reveals that some people had time left over, some people had the writing sample "click off" before they finished proofreading, and others have misplaced the e-mail with the link to the online testing. Still others have been looking for the help desk e-mail or wondering why things are appearing or disappearing when they are answering the test questions. I'm certain that the folks who have completed their online component are relieved and were happy to celebrate with situational beverages.
I say all of this to preface my repeat of the most important piece of advice: please do not wait until the last day of testing to start or complete the online component. Just don't.

J. pumpkin what has happened to your sense of adventure? It is much more exciting to wait until the last day, or even the last few hours of the last day. Plus, if they don't wait until the last day, that won't eliminate some competition for our old friend Gary. BTW, You haven't been too alert recently. Friday night I went to a dinner party. Saturday we cooked out with local friends. And last night we went to dinner with friends from California. The board was totally unmonitored for hours at a time each night, and you didn't even notice. You caused no mischief in my absence. Maybe the responsibility of being a judge is catching up with you? Perhaps that is good as this latest group of kittens is proving to be more difficult to herd than the ones in the past. I do have hope for them, though. I think they will come around just as the others have . . . I hope. Pixie.
