That reminds me, PF; would you contact Bill Belichek to see if he will loan us the video tapes of the SSA's ALJ selection/assignment process? I realize he may have the tapes for only those hearing offices in cities with NFL franchises. As a Steelers fan I probably won't understand most of what I see and hear, but as he (Belichek) says, every little bit helps.

Say what you may about Arlen Spector; however, when he was the Assistant DA in Philadelphia County, if you were charged with murder and he was sitting at the prosecution table you were toast. If memory serves, he racked up 267 murder convictions in a row. His boss, the DA, took all the glory, but Spector did all the work.

Okay, I admit it; even with a fudge factor of +53 hours, I missed (again) the date/time when offers would commence, I missed it.

I'm guessing 9:00 a.m. on June 4th. Good luck to all as the days wind down.

I am unlikely to be selected due to very limited geographic preferences. However, the location I am in the running for this time would be ideal, which makes the waiting that much more difficult. I am torn about wanting the register to reopen -- I could expand my geographic preferences but there would be more applicants on the register. And I am being completely unsuccessful in my attempt to not think about this!
As for the ever important poll, I think those of us who selected a date BEFORE the cert was even issued should receive a bonus or at least sympathy for being way off target.
Also, fewer people are posting here. Does this make it less likely that we will have timely notice of calls being made?

Counsel, If I'm lucky enough to receive a call, I'll post it immediately. Good luck to all & remember, "Patience is a virtue!" (although, my 8 year old said she wasn't born with any) Jerseymom

I agree with Boley 100%. If they were to reopen the register before October and prevent us from retesting to improve our score, many of us left would probably be in a worse position than before. Hopefully the request to reopen the register will follow the normal slow pace of this process and not occur until after the one year limit!

Or until after the next big certificate anticipated for 2009!

I suspect there are many people who will apply if OPM reopens the announcement (and who will be prepared to respond quickly). So, if they have a large group of applicants to test, it should take them six months again to add people to the register. It certainly seems possible that SSA will need to do another batch of hiring before the OPM process is complete if SSA indeed intends to keep up the current pace of hiring.

There are alot of folks over there on the "other" board who delight in misinformation, trickery and the like. I like you have made the mistake of quoting them (with a grain of salt) only to find out it was some troll "having fun". In fact, this board was started (as I understand it) because of this fact. Bad karma is an alien concept to them. Now having said that I understand that the "other" board has been cleaned up considerably, yet...

The "other board" is suggesting that offers will not go out until "after June 10th." Has anyone heard anything to suggest this might be accurate? Well, I can't vouch for it one way or the other but it's not inconsistent with the notification SSA provided. Even if not accurate, I'll latch on to any rumor that makes the coming weekend more pleasant by reducing the compulsion to check this board and my email every 5 minutes.

What are the bonafides for the poster? According his/her post, there is no indication of the reliability or quality of the source.
Besides, it will happen when it happens. We have no control over when it happens. The sun rises and sets each day; I have no control over that either but I do not obsess about it. If they want you, you will know about it.

Didn't the first "class" get about 6 weeks notice before they needed to report to their new hearing office? I have not picked a specific day, but I will say that I expect the email to give new selectees about 6 weeks to prepare before the report date of July 21st as stated in the official email.

O'kay, I missed the mark with my guess of 9:00 a.m. on 6/4, but with this new info, I'm guessing the offers won't come out until next week. There seems to be a ring of truth to the info if one considers that the announcement for ALJ transfers to NM must be in by 6/5. SSA will need time to assess their need for new ALJs in NM after 6/5, assuming offers will go out for NM. I'm thinking they included NM on the cert to account for the possibility that they may not receive enough volunteers to transfer. I'll volunteer! Just a thought.

Interesting thought, pa; count me in as a volunteer also. Didn't the selections come out a week after everyone was expecting them last time? Well, in any event, Karma will out, and we all will get picked or not when the time comes. Somehow, having gone thru this before makes it easier this time. I feel like I'm in a production [on Broadway, of course] of Becket's "Waiting For Godot." May that could be of some consolation for those who want to be in NYC...(although I doubt it somehow)...

All I want's a hearing room somewhere, Buried deep in a gov-ment lair, With one enormous chair; Now wouldn't it be judgely?
Banging the gavel from my seat; Claimants' reps trying to act so sweet, Lest they my wrath they meet; Now wouldn't it be judgely?
Sitting through all the testimony, Being oh so still; I would decide so quickly If it was all for nil.
V-E listening to R-F-C Just as careful as she can be And state if jobs there be Now wouldn't it be judgely?

Based upon information I received yesterday here at HQ, I am now convinced that the posters are correct that offers won't go out until next week.
Since my original guess hasn't passed yet (it was for tomorrow) can I modify it to June 12th at 8:36 a.m. Eastern?
