Okay, okay, okay. I declared a winner too soon. "Gettingthere" got there in time with a legitimate, original prediction. . . Sorry, Counsel, no magic decoder ring for you yet! See the first post on this thread for the remaining two predictions. Anyone else who has not offered a prediction yet may chime in. . .

Back in February, offers were made on Thursday, 2/26, if memory serves.

I will be happy for gettingthere to get there with the magic decoder ring if it means we all have an answer, one way or the other, this week.
I have been thinking, tho, that the prize should be a sparkle pager. For those non Grey's Anatomy addicts, the person with the sparkle pager gets first pick of the best surgeries. Although, in our case, perhaps a sparkle robe -- no, too much -- maybe a sparkle gavel. Then that person could, say, volunteer to cover cases in Hawaii this winter or Maine next summer. Although at this point I would be happy to go anywhere!

Thanks guys, for protecting my chance at posterity and one and only chance for the magic decoder ring (Counsel - I would also be glad for you to have it, although perhaps we could work out some kind of shared custody arrangement). Actually, I really hope, like all, that I won't need another chance to win it (I''ll be on Mt. Olympus awaiting the arrival of everyone else!). As to waiting...yes, I feel it like y'all... I recall in Siddhartha, when Siddhartha wants to kiss the beauteous Kamala, she inquires of him exactly what kind of presents he will present to her for such a pleasure. He responds that he has no money, having been living in the forest as a Samana, but that he has other things of value to offer her. She then asks what these might be. He replies: "I can think; I can fast; and I can wait" Kamala replies: "Then you will be waiting a very long time." Well, not to end on a dismal note - he does get the kiss, without undue waiting, which he enjoys very much. So, the moral here is there is still hope and here's to hoping we get the "kiss" (not kiss-off!!!!) in the next couple days.

Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick. . . Time ran out on Gettingthere. So, Counsel is once again the presumptive winner, unless some laggard who has not offered yet a prediction rushes in under the wire. . .

Ever the optimist, I'll go out on a limb and say June 2008. Actually, I do think that June 17th of this year looks promising, and I will even go further to venture a guess at sometime in the am. And I think Boley should keep whatever beard he has managed to grow, for good luck; as to the women, I appreciate their solidarity, but would excuse them from actual hirsute augmentation. Things are tough enough (on the guys) as they are.

Yesterday at 2:50pm, gettingthere wrote: Ever the optimist, I'll go out on a limb and say June 2008. JH, flush with excitement exclaims: "Wow, you're a wild and crazy guy!! What a reckless prediction!! " Yes -sometimes you just have to throw caution to the winds, and give in to abandon... Actually, at this point I'll be happy to have the results come out this month, even if at the very end; at least it will be over - for now! ps: re: my prediction - that would be am, Pacific Time, tomorrow. Even though those nice folks are will be sending out the emails/calls will be sucking down their Starbucks on Eastern Time, I'm sure they wouldn't want "the beautiful people" out west to be left out at the beginning simply because they were snoozing after a hard night of west coast frolic and frivolity!

Sorry about the grammar in the last post...I was right off a long term snooze after a hard night of east coast frolic and frivolity!

Well, this new development is throwing a wrench into the whole process, particularly for those of us who have private practices. I'm beginning to think that Jazz' prediction of offers coming out by July 21st will not be far off the mark. I feel like I'm doing the Hokey Pokey (one foot in, one foot out). At this rate and with new transfers occuring all the time (including ALJs taking positions with other agencies), we could be in for a wait. I'm hoping that PF's prediction of staged offers is accurate, although that will not necessarily preclude the possibility that some of us could be in for a long wait before all this is concluded.

Maybe someone else should call and try to find out what's going on. They said early June and it is now later than mid-June and they are adding people to the mix.

It would be good to know what's going on. Going to notafed's original post in "I got a letter..."--thirty days to wrap up your practice is very dicey from an ethical standpoint as we have to think of our clients first. Yes, I have a couple of "go to guys", but the private sector doesn't run like this.

Exactly, private attorney.
What should I do? Refuse new cases until told I am/am not hired risking my future livelihood? Or keep amassing cases and have to tell brand new clients three weeks after I accepted their cases that I am bailing out?
AARGH!

Or keep amassing cases and have to tell brand new clients three weeks after I accepted their cases that I am bailing out? AARGH! notafed: I think a logical construct is when you get the job, tell the new clients (and all else) this came out of left field, you certainly didn't know if you would get the job, it was germinating for 13 months and could have gone on for at least another year. It is an honor you cannot pass up. Oh, and you have excellent counsel to take their case and you have a short list should they desire that. Any other suggestions? There was a thread on this a while back that I copied and threw in a file...
