As far as those of us waiting, I spoke with Ms. Martinelli today and she said that offers would "hopefully" go out by the end of the week. Note the emphasis on "hopefully". I know its all a bit deja vu.
I asked about the start date if offers are pushed past this week, but she said they had no word on that at this time. She was very nice and understood that we all had to make plans, etc. Unfortunately, the decisions are not within her control.
She did indeed refer to the letters that went out yesterday as an "expansion" of the certificate. I did not ask any further questions about those on the expanded portion of the cert., since I'm not sure how a June 20th return date will play into those offers. Who knows?

Ya know, the more I think about it, the more it doesn't make sense ... how can we hear by the end of the week if the others have until the 20th to respond. It is all supposed to be part of one cert, isn't it? Seems that its additional slots for the same locales that are already on the cert. Oy, maybe someone else wants to call down to get clarification???

I was thinking that maybe the ones already on the cert will get notice before the latest additions. There is no rule that everyone has to get notice at the same time.

Yeah, jazz, if Ms. Martinelli is correct, then there will HAVE to be two rounds of notifications; one round for one set of cities and another for the remaining set. And if your city is on the supplemental set of cities, its sleepless in this burg for quite a few more weeks--after thinking that you would be "released" as it were in the near future.
Am I missing something?
Would someone in the know please be so kind and condescending, to be so pliant and be so bending as to pu-leeze set us straight here?

This is about as much excitement as we could have had today without actually receiving offers. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

I just spoke to Susan M. at OPM. She was very nice & helpful. She informed me that those in charge have made "tentative selections" from the list of candidates who were on the April 25 cert. (of which I am one), but that she has not been told to make the notifications yet, and cannot do so until those in charge authorize her to do so. She also said that "everyone" is at a conference, so she doubted any offers would be extended until those people at the conference returned (I assume this to be next week). Good luck to all!

Let me clarity--I meant I am on the April 25 cert, not that I am one of the "tentative selections" -- I hope I am, but I have no idea!

Notafed, privateatty is right. Just like everyone else on this post, we have to continue working our jobs until a final word is received. The rub for those of us in private practice is at what point do you say okay, it's time to invest more in marketing? I've made some recent investments into marketing efforts but have held off investing in other areas in anticipation that I woul hear something. As I tell my client's, if I had a crystal ball I would be the successful attorney in the world!

Anyone care to call Disciplinary Counsel and ask them if three weeks is enough time to tell the clients goodbye? And/or should we put our malpractice carriers on notice?
Comments are welcome.

Privateatty, the ethical rules may be different from one jurisdiction to the next. Fortunately, as with PF I have a go to attorney who will be glad to take my clients. I'm sure there are many quality attorneys who would be glad to accept the referral providing the client is comfortable with the new person. I think most clients will be understanding and even congratulatory, but this is a new experience for all of us. I just hope I get the opportunity to have that conversation.
