Cannot "roadkill" be used as a non-quantifiable noun, like "water"?

Yes, but less people driving = less roadkill. True. And I'm surprised Pixie is letting you get away with "less people." It would be nice to move onto grammar, but guys, we can't even master the lowly apostrophe. No way to tackle anything more complex right now.

Every claimant is a consumer. Perhaps they’ll see the Nabisco name or logo, and then get a peckish hankering for Nilla Wafers. I have always felt that Nilla Wafers were the perfect cookie. Sweet, but not too sweet, light, but a good crunch. And now I think I need to head to the kitchen. I guess Nabisco should sponsor you. Dibs on Fig Newtons. The sticker may be dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons. Attachments:

It would be nice to have a new robe when we start having in-person hearings again. I am going to see if I can get some corporate sponsorships, say, from Nabisco or AT&T. Or Goya. I could put the corporate logo on my robe—for a minimal fee. It’s all about the eyeballs. Every claimant is a consumer. Perhaps they’ll see the Nabisco name or logo, and then get a peckish hankering for Nilla Wafers. This could be the wave of the future for financially-strapped ALJs. I could pick up a few bucks a week this way...and I might even be willing to schedule a few more hearings. If there’s something in it for me, anyway. I wonder if the Statute of Frauds would require a written sponsorship agreement? Which reminds me. I wonder if Ivanka has completed her annual ethics training requirement for this year? Respectfully, Hamster Yes she did, they both did at the same time!

We are have "wellness calls" scheduled about every other Friday for the whole office. MGT will read updates they have been told to pass along and ask for questions or particular needs. Otherwise contact is similar for me as others have mentioned: IMs, Emails. Different no seeing folks getting coffee in breakroom or speaking to folks on way in or out, but manageable. More opportunities to use Gaiden's crock pot is a plus. So you ended up with Gaidin's crock pot? That was a board mystery a while back. Do you share it with any other class members? Have you gotten proficient with the Mississippi Roast. Seems to be fairly simple. Yep--I checked--that mystery was resolved on this board late Halloween night 2017--you were there, but like I said, it was late.

Slow Cooker Pork Butt one 3.5-4 lb pork shoulder (pork butt) one Tablesthingy of salt-free seasoning blend (Trader Joe’s 21 seasoning salute or Penzey’s mural of flavor) one 12 oz can cherry coke one handful of dried cherrries your favorite barbecue sauce
1. sprinkle seasoning on all sides of pork 2. place pork in crock pot, fat side up 3. pour can of cherry coke over top and sides of pork 4. sprinkle dried cherries on top of pork 5. cover and cook on low for 8 hours 6. remove pork to baking pan and let rest for 15 min 7. using two large forks, shred pork 8. it’s quite tasty as is, but if you feel you need it, warm 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce in microwave and pour over shredded pork. Serve with slider buns.
(Board censors evidently don’t like table and sp**n together, so one tablesthingy = 1 TBS of seasoning)

Thanks, Pumpkin. There are several posts about this elusive crockpot. That was almost 3 years ago. Maybe I can retain its whereabouts in my memory this time? Pixie

So I was thinking. We’ve been coping OK with office staff filling in for the contract hearing reporters. This seems to be working fine. Once we start working from the office again—perhaps a year from now?—will SSA be ditching the contract hearing reporters altogether? I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what happens.
Be well!
Respectfully, Hamster

Respectfully, Hamster Given how cheap the contract reporters are, it only makes sense to keep having the staff doing the job if there isn't enough work to keep them busy. Which I suppose might be the case, but that will depend on how pending cases look whenever we do get back. As to how long before that is, I'm out of the prediction business. I don't have any idea what the world has to look like before we start to re-open, or whether we will all re-open at once or office by office.

The contract VHR industry will likely have to be rebuilt from the ground up. Even if the companies survive, most of the actual VHRs will have moved on to other jobs, unless I'm totally mistaken about that.

As things stand now, I imagine most of them remain available, it's not like there has been a lot of hiring, outside of delivery people and other jobs where I'd presume the contractors would quit to return to the monitor positions.
Also, just thought of this- if the monitors were eligible for unemployment they may not have had any desire to look for different work.

When we move to virtual hearings with Microsoft Teams - how will that look? It will be an ALJ with his bed behind him while he's on the phone to tech asking why the mock hearing room backdrop disappeared.
