I can also add, the training for the AAs detailed to DDS is much more comprehensive than AA or ALJ training. OHO should be grabbing the DDS material.

I just had a flashback of training years ago that I was fortunate enough to attend that was created and presented by DDS employees, and it was 8 weeks! It was long and kind of brutal but thorough. OHO should be grabbing that training especially since OHO training is focused at step 5 findings and DDS is focused on disability at step 3.

I really wish the agency would let us know if a detail has been filled. A simple "Thanks for applying, try again next time" would go a long way.

Any update on the DHO detail to DDS for GS-13 attorneys? I had heard that selections were to be in place and training conducted next week, though I can’t say how reliable that information is. FYI. As a recently retired SAA, I received a solicitation of interest to return as a reemployed annuitant in the role of disability examiner for DDS. Deadline for indication of interest was 9/16. On 9/21 received an email indicating that further information about the opportunity would be forthcoming within the next two weeks.

Hopefully, everyone already saw the new postings. A bunch of SAA and GS jobs in several offices.
I appreciate everyone who's helped keep this thread up to date. I am leaving the agency for greener pastures this week. So, I won't be updating this thread any more.
Interview tips are available via PM.
Best of luck to everyone!

Does anyone know timeline between getting referred to local management for an SAA position and interviews? Do all the people referred interview?

Does anyone know timeline between getting referred to local management for an SAA position and interviews? Do all the people referred interview? A referral does not mean you will get an interview. I've heard of interviews taking place anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months after referrals went out. Technically they don't even need to interview. All the SAA postings include this language: "Selection interviews may be conducted with one or more of the candidates, but there is no requirement that interviews be conducted."

I just got about a dozen Notice of Appearance on Fed. Ct. cases. Looks like a load of new attorneys are taking up appellate defense. Anyone have any word on how many hires there were?

FYI...I interviewed for a slew of SAA openings during the first six months of 2022. I was eventually selected for three OHO offices. I was an outsider to all three offices, i.e. I did not already work there. I interviewed at two locations and was selected without an interview for the other location. Don't not apply just because you are not an internal candidate!

Yikes... guess I just don't think my mgmt team hates us that much. I could be wrong.

Yikes... guess I just don't think my mgmt team hates us that much. I could be wrong. I don’t think that’s the case most often and unlikely anyone’s management team hates their people. What I’ve noticed has been the opposite with many group supes moving laterally, hiring into the earlier postings from Spring. FWTW

FWTW FWIW, looking back on my career in OHO, it would have been worthy of my time to get a GS position. If GS positions are opening up because of a GS moving laterally to SAA position, I would try to get the GS position! It's a PIA job but good career builder.
